Karlie Strong (she/her) was a member of the Legislative Tracing Team at the Reimagining Justice Lab as part of the hidden sentences research project for nearly two years. While studying full-time at the University of Massachusetts Amherst to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Natural Resource Conservation, she found a passion for law and criminology. This strong interest inspired her to go on and pursue a certificate in Criminology & The Criminal Justice System. While upholding her research position and academics, Karlie worked in the Off Campus Student Center as a Team Leader with Team Positive Presence for two years.There she honed her leadership skills through peer mentorship, outreach, and resource allocation for students. Additionally, in her spare time she engaged in the Diversity and Communications Mentorship Program as a mentee, as well as being a long term member of the Criminology Club. Following graduation, Karlie has gone on to start a career in real-estate law as a Legal Administrative Assistant and is excited to explore what the field has to offer while advancing her skill sets.  

Karlie’s lifelong ambitions revolve around advocating for rehabilitation alongside sensible policy and punishment. Emphasizing a compassionate and practical approach to law aligns heavily with her aspirations to provide support for individuals in need. Her passion and commitment stand as a beacon of hope for reform within the criminal justice system.

Some of Karlie’s hobbies include playing guitar, collecting/identifying crystal and gem specimens, hammocking, watching true crime documentaries, travelling, and reading.
