Ethel Deng

I am Ethel (Yuying) Deng, currently pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Columbia University. I earned my bachelor’s degrees in sociology and theater from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2023, where I had the privilege of serving as the senior speaker for the sociology department. Additionally, I completed a minor in psychology and obtained two certificates in management and social work & social welfare during my undergraduate studies.

Throughout my undergraduate journey, I had the opportunity to engage in several internships related to the criminal system, environmental justice, and new city zone development planning. I collaborated closely with the United Nations on their Net-Zero project, contributing to meaningful initiatives in these areas.

Presently, I am gaining valuable experience as an intern with Asian Americans for Equality, where I serve as a clinical social work intern and a facilitator within the Comprehensive After School System of New York City.
