Chhaya Rajani-Bangser (she/her) was a member of the Reimagining Justice Lab as a part of the Hidden Sentencing Qualitative Research Team since the summer of 2024, while studying sociology and anthropology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is additionally pursuing a certificate in criminal justice on the Pre-Law Track. She is passionate about systemic issues that drive injustices within the legal system. Her passion is driven through prison reform, where she seeks to uncover the social, legal, and psychological factors that contribute to wrongful convictions in the United States.

In addition to this, she currently works as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at the University of Massachusetts Recreation Center and is part of the “Girls That Grow” book club as well as Umass the criminology club.
