Avery Witman (she/her) began at the Reimagining Justice Lab in Spring 2025 as part of the Hidden Sentences Legislative Tracing and Data Training Team while pursuing a degree in Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. With a deep interest in the psychological impacts of criminal justice policies, Avery is passionate about uncovering and examining the unseen effects of incarceration and how we can understand and utilize knowledge of these patterns to strive for justice and equity. After graduation, she plans to attend law school to study Criminal Defense. Outside of her academic and professional work, Avery enjoys spending time with friends and family, exploring the outdoors, and reading.
